Nahoru Téma Public (EN only) / General Discussion / Lighttpd: how to add access to public_html? (uzamčeno)

Hi Admins,
"this topic seems to be the only in english, please move to a proper location, if you like."

I got my router yesterday and was able to use it.
Its really a great toy, thank you for the hard work.

About the lighttpd:
I would like to access the router by http.
I want to use lighttpd and add some user content at the public_html folder.

I have added the software package :
lighttpd-mod-userdir   1.4.39-2

and want to configure the user.dir.
However i placed the following line here:

vi /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf
userdir.path= "public_html"

then i restarted the service :
/etc/init.d/lighttpd restart

to test i opened the browser:
192.168.1.1/~root
but it says 404 (not found)

any idea what could have been wrong here?

Kind regards,
Ken

Hi Ken,

please consider using the new Discourse-based forum for English support for Omnia.

The thing is that by design, every URL, except few exceptions like static assets or LuCI, is routed into the Foris web interface app. But there's solution for this. You can move the foris web interface into a subfolder like /foris/ by adding this into /etc/config/foris:

config config 'server'
        option scriptname '/foris'

After that, your root will be free to serve any static files from the /www. Also, mod_userdir should then work.

Hi  Ondřej,

that works like a charm, thank you!

Ken
